Regardless of what you are planning to go to London for, there are many helpful travel guides available.

A London travel guide would be incomplete without a mention of Buckingham Palace, the famous city landmark which was built as a private home for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703.

Extensive renovations were made in 1825 by Nash, and it is now the permanent abode of the Queen of England. When viewing the Palace from the Mall, you are really looking at the back door of the structure as the front of the Palace opens onto a 40 acre garden. The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is a famous London tradition which has become a huge tourist attraction.

Since 1992, tourists have also been able to tour the elaborate state rooms inside the Palace and view their decorative tapestries, art works and other furnishings form the Royal Collection.
