
The Local Commerce Monitor UK disclosed that Small and Medium Enterprises in the UK spent an average sum of 1,406 Sterling Pounds on marketing efforts last year. This new research by BIA/Kelsey firm indicated that the UK SME's are spending about 30.3 percent of their total promotion expenses on online formats of marketing such as classified directories, Emails, newspapers and magazines. Respondents in the UK demonstrated that they allocate the highest of 35.1 percent on Facebook promotions and lowest to Pay-per-click with 13 percent. Amongst others, they spend 33.4 percent on Email marketing, 33.1 percent on Online classified directories, 32.1 percent on Print classified directories, 31.5 percent on 31.5 percent and 18.2 percent on Twitter. As against the US, only few UK SMEs resort to broadcasting media for promoting their businesses. The radios are allocated 5.2 percent of resources whereas mobile advertising is in very nascent stage.
